A statewide network of Ready Regions will be established to ensure equitable opportunities for all families with young children to thrive. Ready Regions will be Virginia’s on-the-ground early childhood systems builders responsible for coordination and integration of essential services and resources starting with a focus on early childhood care and education (ECCE). Participation in high quality early childhood programs can effectively support the school readiness of at-risk children. With Virginia’s award of a three-year federal Preschool Development Grant (PDG B-5) opportunities exist for communities to strengthen their local early childhood system. Through the Mixed Delivery Grant, opportunities exist for communities to increase access to high-quality preschool for at-risk 3- and 4-year-olds.
